Conscious Connected Breathwork: A Journey Back to Self
Aug 25, 2025
Daily Breathwork vs. Ceremony Breathwork
Conscious Connected Breathwork — this is what I facilitate in ceremony. This is what I educate space holders, coaches, and curious minds to facilitate.
I also have a breathwork membership that has a massive, ever-growing library of regular, day-to-day pranayama practices. These are more geared towards regulating your nervous system and bringing you into a practice of connection to Self.
These practices are really bite-sized. They show you that you CAN actually use breathwork as a daily tool and truly nurture yourself through every single day.
The Depth of Conscious Connected Breathwork
Conscious Connected Breathwork is where we are getting into emotional release. We’re getting into the places that we hold resistance and friction — and that is within our subconscious.
CCB brings us into the depth of our subconscious space, which is ultimately where we hold all of our shit. That can be old pains, trauma, stories, and beliefs … but some of it is also our pleasure, our play, our childlike wonder, silliness, and our juicy desire for life.
At some point, somebody told us that one of those parts weren’t OK. And so we started to shun it, shut it off, and stuff it down into the depths of the body.
CCB helps us access these places so that these parts of self can actually come to the surface. We can tend to them and really see them. We get to realize: actually this part of me is pretty sweet and innocent and not that big of a deal. Let me just hold that part of myself.
Give it a little bit of love and attention — which is ULTIMATELY what we needed in the original moment of it becoming a shame. Let us simply heal the self.
The truth is we’re so busy outsourcing everything to someone or something else, when the actual truth is: it’s here.
It’s always been here.
It always will be here.
Sometimes it does take the support of others to help us see that — mentors, guides, healers, teachers, therapists. But it always leads us back here: the SELF.
For me, Conscious Connected Breathwork has been my journey back here, to my SELF. And I want to share it with you. My mission in this life is to remind one million people of this divine innate power.
How Is Conscious Connected Breathwork Different from Wim Hof?
Let’s break it down.
Conscious Connected Breathwork (CCB)
-
An open-mouth breath practice.
-
The inhale is full: life-affirming, vibrant, active, purposeful. It is receiving life — quite literally.
-
The exhale is soft and surrendered.
The visual I get is the jellyfish. The jellyfish is the perfect description of surrender. Like the sea, it doesn’t dictate where it goes. It’s in full trust of the tides.
In CCB, the breath rises into the belly, then upwards into the heart, and softly back down. Eventually, it becomes a soft, effortless circular breath — the most natural way in which we will ever breathe.
Wim Hof Method
-
Fast, forceful, cyclical breaths (deep in, relaxed out).
-
Usually done in rounds (e.g. 30–40 breaths, then hold).
-
Goal: energizing the body, boosting oxygen, building resilience, creating alkalinity.
-
Feels stimulating, activating — almost like a workout for the breath.
The Difference in Essence
✨ Think of it this way:
-
Wim Hof = activation + performance (biohacking, resilience training).
-
CCB = integration + healing (emotional + spiritual processing).
A Little Bit of Story Time
In the 60s, a doctor named Stanislav Grof was working with war vets as a trauma therapist. He predominantly used LSD in his practice and had incredible results. The LSD would shift his clients into an altered state of consciousness where they could then access the subconscious and repressed memories, emotions, feelings, and trauma.
What he and his wife discovered was that when their clients would begin to have a memory or trauma or story come to surface, their bodies would begin to breathe in this really full, rhythmic way — and they would soon after have an emotional release and a clearing.
In the 70s, when psychedelics became illegal, they had to find an alternative way to do their work. They began experimenting with the breath, and sure enough, they were able to bring their clients into the same breath pattern and have the same beautiful results.
This is the way we breathe when we are born and our umbilical cord is cut. It’s also the way we will breathe when we are taking our last few breaths of air. These are the two times in our life where we are in a place of surrender and non-attachment.
It’s when our bodies have released the rigidity, the holding, the tension, the fear. We are in a place of trust, and our bodies know exactly how to breathe in this place.
The Wisdom of Surrender
It can be a really interesting place of healing — even just learning to TRUST the body, trust the Self, trust that life is happening with and for you.
You don’t actually have to effort so much. It doesn’t always have to be so hard. You aren’t always in need of “doing more.” In fact, you can simply BE — and life will continue to happen beautifully for you.
The many, many layers of wisdom and healing that come through this practice continue to wow me … even after hundreds of sessions.
What to Expect in a Session
I host 2–4 sessions each month, both in person and online, and would love to have you join us.
In a CCB experience, nine times out of ten — maybe ten times out of ten — there will come a point where your thinking mind will tell you stories:
-
You’re not doing this right.
-
I must not be doing this right.
-
I should probably breathe deeper.
-
I wonder if I should be making noise.
-
Maybe I should just stop altogether.
Your body holds an intelligence that your mind will NEVER comprehend.
Our brain is wired to keep us safe. Stepping out of comfort zones sends a message to the brain that we are unsafe — even when we are often perfectly safe and okay.
Conscious Connected Breathwork brings you back into relationship with your body. You CAN trust it. That’s easier said than done, but just go with it. I promise you: your body knows much more about how your body works than your mind ever will.
